On Monday, LA28 organisers formally asked that flag football for both the men's and women's competitions as well as four other sports be added to the event. It would mark the Olympic debut for flag football, a game that looks similar to tackle football, with passing and receiving, but requires little protective equipment, with play stopping when a defender pulls a cloth flag from the waist of an opponent. "But I will tell you that through this process a number of great young stars of the league have said how great it would be to represent their country and play flag." O'Reilly said one appeal of flag football is that it is low cost and that almost anyone can play it. "The Olympics in LA would be a tremendous boost to flag football around the world and in this country."

Banks behind 70% jump in greenwashing incidents in 2023 -report

REUTERS/Stephanie Lecocq/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsLONDON, Oct 3 (Reuters) - The number of instances of greenwashing by banks and financial services companies around the world rose 70% in the past 12 months from the previous 12 months, a report on Tuesday showed. European financial institutions accounted for most of those instances, and much of the greenwashing involved claims about fossil fuels. "Over 50% of these climate-specific greenwashing risk incidents either mentioned fossil fuels or linked a financial institution to an oil and gas company. The European Banking Federation did not respond to a request for comment on the increasing number of greenwashing incidents found by RepRisk. The banking and financial services industry is second only to oil and gas for the number of greenwashing incidents, RepRisk said.

REUTERS/Stephanie Lecocq/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsLONDON, Sept 26 (Reuters) - Three-quarters of companies globally are not ready to have their environmental, social and governance (ESG) data audited externally months before new regulations kick in, according to a new report from KPMG published on Tuesday. Regulators say external auditing of sustainability-related data - while not as extensive as financial auditing - is crucial for giving investors information free of misleading environmental claims, known as greenwashing. The EU rules will require disclosures be audited while countries adopting the International Sustainability Standards Board's reporting requirements can also demand external checking. Yet of 750 companies surveyed by KPMG, only 25% feel they are sufficiently prepared. KPMG's ESG Assurance Maturity Index assessed the views of executives and board members across industries, regions and different firm sizes to measure companies preparedness.

Chinese titanium producers expect boost from new iPhone

REUTERS/Stephanie Lecocq Acquire Licensing RightsBEIJING, Sept 13 (Reuters) - China's titanium producers said on Wednesday they expect stronger demand for the lightweight metal after the launch of a new model of Apple's iPhone with a titanium shell. China accounts for more than 60% of the 240,000 metric tons of titanium and titanium alloys produced globally each year, according to the CNIA. A consumer product "monster" such as the iPhone would help bring wider adoption of titanium in new industries, replacing materials like stainless steel, he added. The titanium shell on the new iPhone is made with an alloy known as Grade 5 Titanium that also contains small amounts of aluminium and vanadium, according to three Chinese titanium producers. "There's a technical barrier to produce titanium alloys and international enterprises such as Apple require high standards.

"Certainly, we want to get into a fast-paced game that suits us the style that we love to play. "At the weekend the ball was like soap so there's probably more kicking involved in that strategy," he added. The veteran hooker, though, warned that the All Blacks might have to accept that they would not get more than 40 minutes of ball-in-play at this World Cup, nor be able to rely on their opposition fading through fatigue. Coach Fabien Galthie and his assistants were satisfied with the win against an All Blacks side, who were previously unbeaten in all 31 of their previous World Cup pool games, but they were quick to point out the team's shortcomings in defence. France missed 21 tackles in the first half and assistant coach Laurent Labit was not so happy with Penaud's performance in that area. France, who are assisted by former referee Jerome Garces, who held the whistle in the 2019 World Cup final, produced a disciplined display. Despite their flaws, Les Bleus still crushed the All Blacks to underline their might. "When you look at it it's incredible to score almost 30 points against them," said captain Antoine Dupont.

With Paris streets often clogged by traffic, travelling underground is often much quicker but only 9% of metro stations can be accessed without walking up and down steps. Wheelchair users, however, would need to travel by bus as both metro stations have stairs and no lifts, a test ride carried out by Maille, who was accompanied by a Reuters journalist, showed. In Berlin, 83% of underground stations are accessible for wheelchair users, according to the operator. The company also plans to deploy 250 specially refitted buses that can transport more wheelchair users, he added. Red Bull have won every race so far this season, 14 in a row including the 2022 finale in Abu Dhabi, and are again favourites at Monza's fast layout. Since Lewis Hamilton's fifth Italian GP win with Mercedes in 2018 no driver has managed a repeat victory in the former royal park outside Milan. The swimming stage of the World Triathlon Para Cup - seen as a test event for the 2024 Summer Games - was cancelled on Saturday due to poor water quality. Athletes had taken part in swimming events in the Seine on the previous two days.
